About

The Ram Kal Path is a major ₹106 crore heritage corridor project in Nashik designed to transform the Panchavati pilgrimage zone ahead of the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Funded primarily by the Central Government, this 1.36 km spiritual walkway connects sacred landmarks like Sita Gufa and Ram Kund with restored ancient aesthetics. It serves as a critical urban renewal initiative to improve infrastructure and manage the flow of millions of devotees.

Key Project Details

  • Budget & Funding: The total project cost is approximately ₹106 Crore, funded largely by the Centre’s "Special Assistance to States" scheme and executed by the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC).
  • The Route: It covers a strategic 1.36 km stretch connecting Sita Gufa, the historic Kalaram Temple, and the Ram Kund bathing ghats on the Godavari river.
  • Scope of Work: The project entails widening roads (up to 15 meters), restoring heritage building facades for uniformity, developing river ghats, and installing stone sculptures and heritage lighting.
  • Timeline: Work orders were issued in June 2025, and the foundation stone was officially laid by CM Devendra Fadnavis on November 13, 2025, with a target to finish before 2027.
  • Social Impact: An additional ₹15 Crore has been allocated to rehabilitate around 60 families and shopkeepers displaced by the necessary road widening.
