The Nashik district administration has proposed the development of Sadhugram to accommodate akhadas, sadhus, and associated religious groups for the upcoming 2026–28 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. According to official statements and media reports, Tapovan has been publicly announced as the proposed site for establishing Sadhugram, covering a large area earmarked for temporary Kumbh Mela infrastructure. As part of the proposal, authorities have initiated land surveys, tree-marking exercises, and public consultations to review environmental and civic concerns. As per media reports dated 10 Dec 2025, MoRTH has approved funding for ~47.9 km of the 77.4 km Nashik Ring Road. The reported sanctioned amount is ₹5,805 crore, including ₹2,650 crore for land acquisition. The Government of Maharashtra approved a total of ₹1000 crore for critical infrastructure works required for the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela 2026–27.
