Union Cabinet Approves Pune–Nashik Semi High-Speed Rail Corridor

Master Announcement

The Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDC), in its official press release dated 4 June 2020, confirmed that the Ministry of Railways has approved the Pune–Nashik Semi High-Speed Railway Line. This will be the first Broad-Gauge Semi High-Speed corridor in the world, designed for speeds up to 200 km/hr, with future readiness for 250 km/hr. The project spans 235 km, includes 24 stations, 18 tunnels, 19 viaducts, and requires 1,458 hectares of land across Pune, Ahmednagar, and Nashik districts. Estimated project cost is ₹16,039 crore. Construction is expected to begin after financial closure, with an estimated completion timeline of 1200 days.
