During public statements in February 2024, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis confirmed that the Pune–Nashik Semi-High-Speed Rail Line is progressing with a revised route through Shirdi. He mentioned that the new alignment is currently under evaluation, and the state government is actively working with MRIDL and the Ministry of Railways to accelerate technical feasibility, land acquisition, and funding efforts. The announcement reaffirms the government’s commitment to providing high-speed connectivity between Pune, Shirdi, and Nashik.

In June 2025, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis publicly stated that the Nashik Ring Road project had been approved. The project aims to build a 66.15 km ring road to reduce congestion and improve regional connectivity. Following this announcement, the Government of Maharashtra issued an official GR on 21 November 2025 approving land acquisition and project execution through MSIDC. Further progress will involve MoRTH approval for civil works and subsequent tendering.

The Nashik Metro Neo was announced in the Union Budget 2021–22 as an innovative, low-cost urban transit system using rubber-tyred electric coaches on elevated corridors. The project received an initial budgetary provision of ₹2,092 crore with the aim of improving city mobility and reducing congestion. As of now, the original Neo plan has stalled, and the government is evaluating alternative metro variants based on updated feasibility and changing urban requirements.
