The Nashik Metro Neo was announced in the Union Budget 2021–22 as an innovative, low-cost urban transit system using rubber-tyred electric coaches on elevated corridors. The project received an initial budgetary provision of ₹2,092 crore with the aim of improving city mobility and reducing congestion. As of now, the original Neo plan has stalled, and the government is evaluating alternative metro variants based on updated feasibility and changing urban requirements.
